Climate & Renewable Energy

“The climate crisis has already been solved. We already have all the facts and solutions. All we have to do is to wake up and change.”

— Greta Thunberg

Rapid action is needed to avoid a bleak future.

The science is clear. Our climate is disrupted due to carbon dioxide emissions into our atmosphere, primarily from the burning of fossil fuels.

The effects are impossible to ignore. Record breaking temperatures. More intense storms, hurricanes, wildfires, drought. Rising sea levels and – as a consequence – climate refugees seeking new homelands. The health impacts are overwhelming: devastating infectious diseases, escalating air pollution, expanding food and freshwater shortages.

To limit global temperature rise to 1.5 degrees C, as set by the Paris Agreement, we must decrease greenhouse gas emissions by 8% each year; a far cry from our current global increase of 1-2%.

Deep Decarbonization will get us there.

Deep Decarbonization requires a profound transformation, an “all hands on deck” approach to reach net zero carbon emissions. While we face a massive threat, climate solutions provide a remarkable opportunity. Civil society, government, and the private sector are coming together to address this greatest challenge of our time.

Futures Unbound supports:

  • Environmental Justice for Displaced Workers & Communities

  • Fossil Fuels Phase-Out

  • Renewable Energy & Electrification

We encourage our friends and neighbors worldwide to rally around the U.N. Sustainable Development Goals, including Goal 13: “Take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts.”
